Stick It To Ya

Hello lovelies! It's be quite awhile. Life's been pretty busy, so I haven't exactly had time to get all 'glam'd' up 'n such. But this post I give you a more casual autumn vibe, which I love. It's comfortable, and stylish at the same time. I love autumn, as I've mentioned before in previous posts, and I wanted to share with you all my casual that I've always loved and done since I was in high school. Leather jacket (or even a denim jacket if you prefer, which is just as good), ripped jeans, band t-shirt, thick socks, and the comfiest/cutest pair of moccasins I own (or boots, boots are good too).

Now, the season of fall is amazing, if you don't already know. Pumpkin this, pumpkin that, candles, leaves falling to the ground/changing colors, jacket weather, boot weather, Halloween everything, horror films, and so much more. It's fantastic.

The band shirt you'll see me wearing in this post is of a very popular hair band from the early '90s. I love this band so. damn. much. The band Slaughter is really a f*cking fabulous band, all of their songs speak to me on so many different levels, and are really just a down to earth, rock and roll band. I came across Slaughter back when I was about 10 or 12 years old, when I first started listening to the band, Vinnie Vincent Invasion. I fell in love with the lead singer Mark Slaughter, and everything about him, his voice, his talent, his beauty, his sweetness, his goofiness, and so much more. Thus, I found his band Slaughter that he had created with bass player of VVI, Dana Strum. Later on, when I was maybe 13, my good friend from Ohio came up to Canada to see me and my family, and had heard that I was a fan of the band Slaughter (as she is too, but said she wasn't gonna use tapes anymore, but knew that I would), so she handed down to me, her Slaughter cassette "Stick It To Ya". I've had that cassette ever since. Just before I turned 14 and was already in my first year of high school, I listened to that tape all the time for my first two years of high school. Towards the last years of my high school career, I started to listen to rockabilly music, and indie music, and somehow broke away from my hair bands that I loved so much. Then just in recent months, I've started to go through my old cassettes, and have started re-living my past music....Slaughter being one of those bands. I'm so glad I started to get back into the swing of things, because the feeling I got after re-listening to some of the music from my past, really made me love these guys even more than I did before.

I'm hoping to make more post's very soon, with new idea's and looks. Still vintage, but with a touch of bad-assery. Y'all know how much I love autumn, so I will definitely need to make more posts for this upcoming season!

Spring is on the Horizon!

Ah, spring. The smell of snow melting, trees and plants blossoming - there's really nothing like it! Anyone who knows me, knows that my two favorite seasons are spring and fall. There's something about the feeling of it being cold, then becoming warm in the spring; and of it being warm to becoming cooler in the fall. But there is something about the fresh air in the spring - it's so breathtaking. The sun shines through your window in the morning while the birds are singing, morning dew on the grass, fresh breeze coming through your window, and the sun stays a little longer in the evening - it's just perfect. Not only do I love the feel of spring, but I especially love the clothes you can wear; you can start to wear denim jackets - or no jacket at all, peddle pushers, sweater shirts, flats, tennis shoes, etc. etc. The pastel colors are a favorite of mine - soft pinks, purples, blues, yellows, and greens.

 After this past winter, I've really come to the conclusion that I hate it. Why I love spring and fall is pretty obvious to anyone: it's between warm and cold, which is perfect for me.

Story time: around spring, I visit my cousins in Ohio. It's always so much fun with them - showing us around, going to various retro and vintage shops, or takings us on tour of places our ancestors have been or are. We usually spend Easter together, but it's the tradition that makes me happy. One particular and simple part of visiting my cousins takes place in the morning. My one cousin that I usually stay with has a very modest home, that is absolutely adorable...with a porch and big backyard. My family is Italian so people walk in and out of the home which I love beyond words. But, let me try and have you visualize it: waking up in the morning, with the sweet smell of coffee and rustling around in the kitchen or front area, you get up, get ready. My cousin whom I stay with is always the first up, and once he has his coffee, he'll take his cup, two dogs and sit out on the front porch with the fresh dew on the grass and breeze in the air. Sometimes my cousin will have a boombox sitting outside and he'll play around the stations to find the one he wants. Once I'm up, I get my cup of coffee and join him. We'll talk about anything and everything - it's one of those very simple memories and traditions to me that makes everything perfect in my eyes. I get so excited when visiting my family in Ohio, and can't wait to visit them again soon. 

I'll always love the feeling spring gives me. The fact that spring is official tomorrow, makes me so happy. We've already been having the perfect weather, now for the fun road trips of spring that I enjoy so much! Bring on the beautiful weather!

DIY Band Patches

A couple of days ago, I posted a video to my Instagram of me painting A-ha on a piece of white material. I've been working on some DIY's of my favorite 80's bands, to pin to the back of one of my denim jackets. I wanted to paint bands that I literally have no shirts/material with them on at all. So I painted George Michael from "Faith", A-ha's Morten Harket in the video "Take on Me", New Kids on the Block's Jordan Knight (whom is my favorite in the band), and Stray Cats.

I've been reliving my 80's favorites and I wanted to come up with a fun way to show them off. Since I do something different with my outfits everyday, I thought - why not make a bunch of band patches and then whatever I'm feeling that day, I wear that patch.
