This film came out in 1954, and was made in something that was so fascinating and new at the time, 3-D vision. Now, I have not seen it with 3-D glasses but if I did, it'd probably be a heck of a lot more scary! Directed by Jack Arnold, its about a geology expedition in the Amazon that finds evidence of a fossilized link between land and sea animals in the form of a skeletal hand with webbing between the fingers. Leader of expedition, Dr. Carl Maia goes to his friend, Dr. David Reed who works at an aquarium in California, finds himself fascinated by the fossil and is in need to find the rest of the skeleton. Dr. Reed's girlfriend (Kay Lawrence) and colleague (Dr. Edwin Thompson) go to the Amazon with both Reed and Maia. Once they arrive back, they come across the rest of Dr. Maia's team; which happen to have been slaughtered in their tents. Things begin to change. They go through much extent to find out what this sea creature may be. Both Reed and Thompson search the waters to find not only fossils, but what might be lurking in that deep water. This creature comes known not soon after the film has started. They start by showing just the hand, but gradually show a full shot of the creature, in the water chasing after Kay while she swims.
I do not want to give the rest of the film away, as you should just go see it for yourself! It's a superb film, and is a must-see film if you're into the oldies.
